Bukas Palad Social Center has given a great impact in my life. Bukas Palad molded me since I was young. Le Gemme Learning center is my first school. Since then, it helped me a lot not only on my needs in school but also spiritually. In the same way with my parents, because Bukas Palad gives them monthly "Word of Life", an ideal phrase or a thought from Chiara Lubich. To freely give and to freely receive. I just hope that we are all reminded that this love that Bukas Palad is giving is a fruit of the love of God which has been given to Chiara and is now given to us. I will always be thankful to Bukas Palad because without them I won't be able to meet the Focolare Movement.

Bukas Palad is not just an institution which adheres to a person's need but to the whole family. It freely gives support in all aspects of life. Aside from the financial support they are giving, they also guide the scholars towards spiritual, emotional, physical and social development. It has been a new path for families who are in need. Because of the love they are giving, we have learned that whenever we freely give, we freely receive. We receive the love we have put in giving. Bukas Palad helped me reach my goals in life. With their unending support, I had graduated college and earned a degree. Now, I am applying what they have taught me. I am now a teacher and in teaching, I can always give the best of myself.

Bukas Palad gives manifestation on own its motto "Freely we receive, freely we give". In fact, it gives us the opportunity to do the same for others like "The Balik Tulong program" that has just started. It's the place where we can find love, like in a family, and a place where they bring us closer to God through the Catechism and Word of Life.

Bukas Palad for me is like a second home and a second family. A home that gives me joy, a home that welcomes you no matter what you are. It's like a family having second mothers and fathers (BP staff) and many brothers and sisters (BP scholars). It teaches us the different knowledge about community and how to be humble and take responsibilities on what you are doing. By being one of the scholars of Bukas Palad, I learned to be more disciplined and be responsible at all times, it made me a better person and a good daughter to my parents, and a better sister to my brother. It also made me closer to God through the Catechism.

Bukas Palad is not just an institution that gives a helping hand. It is an institution that molds young minds to be persons with discipline. It develops the mind to know how to deal and handle problems on their own. It also upholds the morality of each scholar, helps them to be responsible yet soft hearted towards co scholars. For me, Bukas Palad is a home, a home where love exists, a home where good is being practiced. It is a home that shows a lot of opportunities. It is an institution that leads a child to a better future. It is a home that helped me reach my dreams, a home that will always welcome you no matter what time or circumstances of life you are in. They have a loving helping hands that will always push you towards a bright future.

Bukas Palad for me is a home for people who are open to helping people, not only financially, but giving an unconditional love towards the neighbor, even though they come from different places. This has a great impact on me as Bukas Palad scholar because I graduated from college through them, one thing that I will never forget. When I learned about "Balik Tulong" of Bukas Palad, at once I told myself and my husband that I would help because I started from there - my take off point. It might be a small thing but I will really do it for as long as I can.

What's Bukas Palad? At first I thought it was an institution that supports children for their education, and when I became part of it, I might say, it's a home. It's a family that molds young people to have life with Jesus.
